A Thousand Tones is distributed in Australia by Eastmint
Elestial Sound (USA) and Eastmint present A Thousand Tones, a 40 track music compilation featuring new instrumental music made by cis women, trans women, trans feminine and non-binary composers of all ages from around the world.
A Thousand Tones is about perspective, composition and intersectionality within underground and DIY music culture. Composers and recording artists from Australia, Denmark, Japan, The Philippines, Germany, Uruguay, Canada, Egypt, Russia, Norway, The United States, and The United Kingdom have been brought together to absorb listeners and challenge hegemonic music culture.
The launch will be held at Eastmint in Northcote and will bring together 8 acts from the compilation; OK Sure,
Toyah Hoetzel, Cold Hands Warm Heart, Crush Crush (Aviva Endean & Evelyn Ida Morris), Emah Fox, The Person, Sha She and Quadrifid plus an art installation by Courtney Blackness. Held accross two stages, the launch will celebrate the instrumental composition community of Melbourne in classic Eastmint style,
with vegan laksa available and the opportunity to witness world class music in the special and intimate space of the Eastmint warehouse. The Australian allocation of the limited edition double cassette and accompanying zine will also be available for purchase.
200 special limited edition double-cassette tapes and a booklet/zine compiled by featured artists will be available for sale at the launch and select record stores alongside the digital release of A Thousand Tones, out now through Elestial Sound.
